Toy Rattles Recalled Due to Choking Hazard
Manhattan Toy Recalls Toy Twirlla Wooden Rattles Due to Choking Threat
Manhattan Group LLC, of Minneapolis, Minnesota in cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada announced the recall of approximately 3,300 wooden rattles in the U.S. and 145 in Canada. The Twirlla Wooden Rattles were made in Thailand and sold through stores and online at the official ManhattanToy.com website through the months of March 2011 to July 2001 and retailed for approximately $12.00. Though there have been no reported incidents, the companies have issued the recall due to U shaped parts on the rattle that can break loose and pose a choking hazard. Consumers who have the rattle are advised to take it away from their children and return them for a full refund.
Those selecting rattles for purchase must ensure they keep safety at the forefront; it isn't enough to just assume that a product is safe because it is wrapped in plastic and sitting on a store shelf. When choosing rattles make certain there are no loose parts that could break away and pose a choking threat. As all toys make their way in infants' mouths, it's a good idea to select rattles made from natural, organic materials. Carefully examine all rattles before deciding they are safe and if necessary, pull on it to see how durable it is. If you have any doubts regarding the safety of a toy, choose another.
It is against the law to resell products that have been involved in a recall. As many might be tempted to purchase baby toys, cribs, high seats or other baby furniture from thrift stores, it is best to buy these items new. Products that may have been involved in previous recalls may find their way to these discount outlets where they are purchased by patrons unaware of the dangers they possess. If you have any questions regarding the Twirlla Wooden Rattle recall, you may contact the Manhattan Group toll free from Monday through Friday, Central Time between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. You may also visit the company at their official website.
