A Toy Story 3 Teaser Trailer Premiered on Entertainment Tonight and Has Now Crossed the Internet

A Toy Story 3 teaser trailer has passed through Entertainment Tonight, and is now gracing the internet on several web-sites (linked at end of article). The Toy Story 3 trailer isn't the best of quality, but that's because the early presentation is being done in 3-D, which doesn't come off as the best in 2-D. That's not really the point though, and the intent of the early release for the Toy Story 3trailer, is to get the buzz going for the upcoming release of the film. It has been 14 years since the first Toy Story made its way to theaters, and it makes one wonder if the fans will still be there for another sequel.

The release date for Toy Story 3 is scheduled to be June 18th, 2010, so the film is still more than a year from premiering in theaters. That doesn't mean it's not time to start teasing about the next film, and with Disney-Pixar sending Up into theaters this weekend, it became a great time to premiere a new 3-D trailer. Three dimensional films are becoming quite popular again, and it looks like Toy Story 3 is getting the royal treatment when it comes to the technology. It also appears that Disney is going back to the well to promote a franchise that has made them more than a billion dollars already.

The best thing going for Toy Story 3, is that they have a number of returning characters, as most of the stars have agreed to return for another go round. This includes Tom Hanks as the voice of Woody, Tim Allen as the voice of Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack as the voice of Jessie the Cowgirl. It could be really interesting to see where the latest chapter of Toy Story takes the characters, and with a summer release, it will probably be big business once again for the franchise. Couple that with the toy promotions that Tory Story 3 could draw, and it is the perfect recipe for a summer blockbuster.

With a budget that was only estimated to be around $30 million, the original Toy Story film took in almost $200 million in the United States alone, with another $162 million coming from over-seas. Toy Story 2 came out five years later, and upped the ante by brining in $245 million in the U.S., and even more from overseas. Couple that with all of the Video and DVD sales, and you have yourself a franchise that is very lucrative. It was a good business choice to make another one, and it will surely bring the familiar brand of comedy to a new generation of movie goes.

This particular sequel has had a rocky history. It was originally being developed without the help of Pixar, but then Disney bought Pixar which allowed John Lassiter and others to scrap the project. Now that they're back on board for this one, I'm hoping that it will be as good as the other two. Number 3, however, can be an unlucky number for sequels. Thanks for the report!
