Yes, dog have specialized toys. The most common toys in mind would be the Frisbee and the chew bone. Of course, there is nothing wrong with such traditional toys. Dogs may be amused for hours just chewing on their bone or fetching it or jumping up and down to catch a flying saucer. This may mean however that you may have to take some precious time away from your own preoccupations to humor your dog. Although this may generally be a good idea, taking too much time with your dog may leave you with no room for other matters.
Consider procuring toy items for your dog to have fun over while you're attending to other concerns. Dogs may not be such a hard breed to please as opposed to the more choosy cats. Dogs can easily get attracted to anything they may fancy, from a piece of trash to your expensive pin stripped pair of pants. While you may worry over keeping the more expensive articles of clothing out of your dog's reach, you should be more worried about ensuring his safety while at play.
Your dog may want to play and chew through ordinary items around your house. This may be perfectly okay as long as you make sure that such makeshift amusements do not have small pieces of plastic or rubber which your dog may swallow. Be mindful too of items which dogs may easily ingest. This may prove to be a bigger problem for you than anything else.
If you plan to get your dog some store-bought item to play with, make sure that you take into consideration your dog's size. A Labrador for example may easily swallow small balls than a Chihuahua.
Other dog toys which may be bought from stores are hard rubber toys and balls for chewing or a kong toy which may be perfect for your canine to sink its teeth into. Your dog may also want to play with small stuffed toys. If you want to be extra careful, toys that are usually safe for very young children may also be safe for dogs since such toys do not have harmful fillings or parts.
To prevent boredom from setting in, do not offer your dog all its toys all at once. Try swapping the toys and using them at different intervals. This will ensure that your dog will stay interested at a particular toy even if it has been around foe quite some time.
In a dog's life, toys are definitely something they truly require so start the hunt for the perfect dog toy for your pet.
