Toyota and Ford Cars Score Highest in 2009 Vehicle Dependability Study

According to a 2009 Vehicle Dependability Study of Indian cars conducted by J D Power Asia Pacific, car models from Ford and Toyota have scored the highest in the mid-size, SUV, and MUV segments. Honda and Maruti Suzuki too have been ranked high in other car segments.

The study is conducted on three year old vehicles in ten different car segments. The examination is based on nine categories that include features, controls and displays, ventilation and cooling aka HVAC, exterior and interior of the vehicle, driving experience, engine, and transmission.

The overall dependability score is decided based upon the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100). Lower scores represent minimal problem and high quality vehicle with long life.
Ford Ikon in the mid size segment and Ford Endeavour in the SUV segment are leading models whereas Toyota Corolla (mid-size) and Toyota Innova (MUV) have been ranked highest. From the Maruti Suzuki stable, Zen Estilo leads in the small car segment and Honda's mid-size City has bagged the top score.
