Toyota to Launch the Fortuner on Aug. 24

Toyota Motor Corporation will bring in the Fortuner in India on 24th August, much ahead of its stipulated launch time.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is expecting that this Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) will reach a market share of 50 per cent in its category.

The Deputy Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Sandeep Singh said that the company is planning to sell 2,000 units of the Fortuner by December. He also added that the Fortuner will cost around Rs 20 Lakh.

The Toyota Fortuner comes with a four-wheeler drive which is powered by a 3-litre Advanced Common-Rail Diesel engine. This SUV will be imported to India as knocked down unit and will be assembled at Toyota's plant in Bidadi, near Bangalore.Toyota Kirloskar Motor has revealed that the car company will not launch any new car after the Fortuner till it rolls out its compact car by 2010. However, there could be launch of limited editions of existing models.
