Toyota Recall Expands to Include Europe
The Recall of Several Million Toyotas Has Now Expanded to Europe
Previously Toyota had a recall on more than 4 million vehicles. The earlier recall was due to the accelerators getting stuck under the floor mats. This was thought to have caused at least one serious accident.
Toyota explained to federal safety officials that the problem may be related to condensation on parts of the accelerator system. At this time they are not sure if they have an answer to address the problem.
Toyota will be alerting all owners of 2005-2010 Avalons, the 2007-2010 Camry, the 2009-2010 Corollas, the 2010 Highlander, the 2009-2010 Matrix, the 2009-2010 Rav4, the 2008-2010 Sequoia and the 2007-2010 Tundra in the United States and Europe.
Americans love their cars, and Toyota has a loyal following. Those who have to deal with this recall may not be too upset-as long as they get to keep their Toyota.
If you are not sure if your car is on the list, check those mentioned here and do a search online. No one know if other models will be mentioned at a later date. If your model is on the list, locate your vin # and call a dealer with this information. A dealer will be able to tell you if your vehicle is on the list.
Toyota is not alone. Other makers have had their share of recalls over the years. Some vehicles have had a series of recalls, causing frustration for owners.
Toyota owners will be able to bring their vehicle to a local dealer for repair once a recall letter is received. However, as Toyota has stated they are not sure what the solution will be for this problem, there is no point in rushing to make an appointment with a dealer.
