Toyota Suspends Sales Amid Recall Problems with Eight Toyota Models

Toyota Has Asked Dealers to Stop Selling Eight Models of Toyota Cars Until Further Notice

Toyota suspended sales of eight models due to the latest Toyota recall. Toyota had their dealers suspend sales on all Toyota recall affected models, with the worry being that even vehicles on the dealer lots could be suspect when it comes to safety. This suspension of dealer sales is directly tied to the recall that Toyota announced last week, and is in conjunction with their effort to fix a problem with the accelerator pedal sticking while the car is being driven. It's a bold step by the Toyota Company, but could also be a rough few weeks for the Toyota dealers as they are the ones ultimately suffering from this latest Toyota vehicle problem.

The latest Toyota recall was officially announced on January 21st, 2010, and is said to affect 2.3 million Toyota vehicles. Not only is Toyota stating that they are recalling the vehicles that have already been sold, they are now making that step to stop allowing these vehicles to leave the lot.

According to Toyota:

"Helping ensure the safety of our customers and restoring confidence in Toyota are very important to our company," said Group Vice President and Toyota Division General Manager Bob Carter. "This action is necessary until a remedy is finalized. We're making every effort to address this situation for our customers as quickly as possible."

This also means that Toyota will stop the production lines of the affected vehicles in order to fix the Toyota vehicles on the line before the problem makes its way to the dealerships. If you are in the market for a Toyota vehicle, it is probably best to hold off on purchasing one until further notice, as even Toyota seems to feel that the vehicles are not safe enough to have on the street. The one thing that Toyota still needs to do is declare that drivers not partake in using these vehicles until they can be fixed.

Make sure to check the recall list on the link before to see if your vehicle might be recalled by Toyota. There are quite a view vehicles on the recall list now, amounting to 2.3 million in total.

I have owned a Toyota Camry SE for less than two weeks. I cannot believe that the dealership did not know this was coming when I bought this car. Why don't they just let us return them and get out money back. WalMart would.
