Toyota's Latest Recall: Lexus GX 460 SUV's Join Growing List of Toyota Recalls

Karen Gros
The U.S. Transportation Office announced this morning that Toyota's 2010 Lexus GX 460 SUV's are being recalled due to potential roll over problems. The recall will affect approximately 6,000 vehicles that have already been sold in the United States since December of 2009.

Toyota also announced that they will halt the sale and production of the 2010 Lexus GX 460 SUV until the problem can be fixed. Toyota also announced that they would be tested all of their other SUV's for the same problem.

Consumer Reports tested the Lexus GX 460 SUV and rated it as a "safety risk" and "do not buy" due to skidding and sliding during high speeds when tested. Toyota reports that they have not been able to duplicate the safety risk at this time but are working on the problem in order to achieve a solution to the matter.

The announcement comes just two days after a recall was announced on the Toyota Sienna. Over 600,000 Sienna mini-vans were recalled due to potential corrosion in the cable that holds the spare tire in place. This poses a problem for people living in cold areas especially, due to the salting of roads and can cause the spare tires to fall off during driving, creating a hazard to fellow motorists. Sienna models recalled include the 1998 models through the 2010 model.

Toyota has been plagued with problems since massive recalls of other Toyota models were recalled last fall for problems with the gas pedals. Toyota failed to respond to the problems relating to the gas pedal problems quick enough and have been imposed with a hefty fine to the amount of $16.5 million from the U.S. Transportation Department.

It seems that trouble just seems to be piling up for Toyota. Multiple models of vehicles have been recalled in the last six months all due to multiple problems. If you are driving a Toyota, be sure to keep up to date with all of their recalls.

Does it ever end? I have always bought "trouble-free" Mazdas. There have been Toyota issues in Australia as well.
