It seems you no sooner finish, your back-to-school shopping, when it is time to shop for Christmas 2009. It is hard in these tough economic times to find the perfect present. Children want to have the toy that their friends have. It seems you no sooner finish, your back-to-school shopping, when it is time to shop for Christmas 2009. Inventory and production of toys are down due to the economy. It is hard in these tough economic times to find the perfect present, the toy your children want. Face it; children want to have the toys like their friends have. What is a parent or grandparent to do? You can shop smarter by shopping early. With careful planning, you can find that present now and be a step ahead of everyone else. Not only will you probably be able to save money, but you may also save yourself a great deal of stress. Take a look at the suggestions from the Toy Retailers Association. They might be able to give you a clue as to what your child wants this years for Christmas. Don't forget to ask your child what they want before you make your purchases.

The Toy Retailers Association have announced what they predict will be the top toys for Christmas 2009. Of course, Barbie, Transformers, Dr Who, and 'Are You Smarter Than a 10 Year Old' are on the complete listing. Here are just their top five picks from that list.:

1. Baby Born with Magic potty

This baby doll has a 'Magic potty'; the potty makes true to life flushing noises. The baby cries tears, eats, and drinks from a bottle. The baby even needs its diaper changed at times. Put the baby on the 'Magic potty' to watch the flashing lights and hear the flushing sound. It is perfect for those 3+ year olds that are potty training and older.

2. Bakugan Starter Pack

This fast playing card game was inspired by the cartoon, Bakugan Battle Brawlers. It is played with magnetic, spring-loaded marbles. It takes a bit of skill and practice to perfect your shooting skills. With luck and skill on the players' side, they will soon have transformed their ordinary Bakugan into an extraordinary warrior.

This game made the Top 12 must-have toy list, Christmas 2008. It isn't surprising to see it back on the list this year as the toy has increased in popularity. This toy is suitable for ages 5 and up; however, it may not be suitable for homes that have younger children in the house (the game has small parts which may pose a choking hazard).

3. Ben 10 Omitrex Watch

This is an impressive toy watch; it looks like the one Ben wears on Ben 10 Alien Force TV show. It "features lights, sounds and mimics the Omnitrix's holographic images from the popular cartoon." One mini translucent figure comes with the watch. It is the key to unlocking a special image on the watch as well as the sound. This watch is suitable for ages 4 and up. There are many other Ben 10 Omitrex toys sure to please, your Ben 10 Alien Force fan.

4. Catcha Beast

Catcha Beast is an interactive hand held action game that will remind fisherman of reeling in the big one. It is certain to hook your little one and possibly you. This is not your ordinary passive hand held game. With this game, you must rotate your entire body until you hook your beast, and then reel it in the monster. This game is for ages 6 and up.

5. Elmo Live

Do you remember when it seemed as if every child wanted, 'Tickle me, Elmo'? Well, now there is 'Elmo Live'. This Muppet is animated as he speaks. He waves his arms, moves his mouth and crosses his legs. He can tell stories, jokes, sing songs and play games.

Retailers are scaling back production due to the economy; toys will be scare near Christmas time. I'd suggest getting the toys now. The year 2009 has been a hard for society as a whole, with the pandemic and the possibility of having kids home from school you will want to make certain you have something on hand to entertain the troops. Getting those toys will help make certain your children have a very Merry Christmas morning.
