Toys for Your Toddler Boy - What My Son Loves

curli5
My son just turned two and has a ton of toys. Way too many if you ask me. I never had this many toys when I was a child. But between Christmas, Hanukkah, and his birthday all in the same month, we end up with toy overload. I try to keep some of the toys in the basement and switch them with the toys he plays with now and again. Some of his favorite toys to play with are:

Cars - Any kind of car. He usually will play with the cars from the movie Cars. He loves Lightening McQueen and Mater. Those are his absolute favorites. He will play with Sally, Ramone, Guido, and the others on occasion.

Hot Wheels - He is just getting into the hot wheels. I bought a small carrying case and some hot wheels to play with. Only in the past few days have I really noticed him playing with them. They are a little smaller than the cars from the movie Cars.

Trucks - Oh trucks. He loves trucks. Whenever we are in the car he points out all of the trucks that he sees. He also points out all of the yellow buses.

Hess Toys - My father in law always buys his grandchildren the Hess collections and I usually don't open them. But over this past weekend we opened two of them and he absolutely loves playing with them. One is a fire engine and he plays the sirens. The other one is a helicopter landing pad. It comes with the helicopter too. He is usually careful playing with them, I wonder if he knows I want to save them

Blocks - I can't say enough good things about blocks. When he was younger he loved to play with the Mega Building Blocks with Daddy. Now that he is a little older I bought him Lego's. He loves them. My husband builds a little garage for him and my son likes to take his cars and park them in the garage.

Play-dough - I didn't think he was old enough for this toy but I was wrong. He can't wait for my husband to come home from work so they can sit at the kitchen island and play with the play-dough. Just be careful not to leave the cover off or else the play-dough will dry up.

Trains - What little boy do you know doesn't like to play with trains. I bought him the Thomas Trains and he loves them. They attach with magnets so he can make them himself.

Balls - He actually enjoyed playing with balls more when he was a little younger. He has outgrown this toy just a little bit. Unless of course Daddy is home to play mini catch with him. Mom isn't always good at this game.

Ride Ons - He had so many ride ons as a baby but he was too young. I just took them out of the basement and he went crazy when he saw them. He is old enough now to sit on them by himself and ride all over the house. He doesn't need myself or my husband to push him on them. Thankfully because our backs were killing us.

Phones - This must be from watching Mom on the phone all day. He has two different phones, one was a hand me down that calls 911 and one is a Thomas the Train. He likes to use both at the same time.

Laptop - I bought him a Thomas the Train laptop because he always sees me typing away on my laptop.

Puzzles - He hasn't really started playing with puzzles yet. He is still a little too young too understand what he is supposed to do.

Easel - My in laws had bought him a painting easel over the summer, He used to play with the magnetic side with his letters but now he actually colors on the other side. Of course we use washable markers or else my whole house would be decorated and not in the good way.

These are just some suggestions that I have found my son really enjoys to play with. I am sure this will be an ever changing list as he grows up.
