Features
The 410G is an attractive clamshell cellphone with a silver body and black trim around the relatively small LCD display. The front face panel on the phone is black, and has a small screen in the center that displays time and caller ID info. The rechargeable battery has a rated talk time of four hours, and a standby time of seven days, which is fairly standard for any cellphone.
Features are fairly basic, and expected for a price of $19.95. The phone comes with the ability to record up to 500 contacts, which Tracfone calls the phonebook app. There is a speakerphone and vibrate mode, both convenient features for work or school. The other basic apps include a voice recorder, an alarm clock, a calendar, and a calculator. The 410G is hearing-aid compatible, so users who are hearing impaired shouldn't have any problems with this phone.
Graphics (aka, wallpapers) and ringtones can be downloaded from Tracfone's store, and you can access the web on a limited basis with the built-in WAP browser (just don't expect anything spectacular). Voice mail is included with the phone, but you have to pay minutes when you call and listen to your messages.
Conclusion
Tracfone offers cellphones for a lower price point than its other company, Net 10, because they bundle far less minutes with their phones-you shouldn't let the price tag on the 410G make you think you're getting a better deal than an equivalent phone from Net 10. With that said, if you're certain that Tracfone is more economical for you, the 410G is priced low enough to make it a viable option for most people on a budget looking for a cellphone that is just a cellphone.
