Trader Joe's Peanut Butter Soft Dog Treats and Blue Dog Bakery Premium Low Fat Dog Treats

Your Best Friend Deserves the Best

Our dog truly is a princess. She eats organic dog food and healthy treats unless a culprit comes over and thinks giving her junk food is ok. True there are some products she loves because of the sugar but I have found two healthy dog treats that I am glad to give her.

The first I bought in Trader Joe's called Peanut Butter Soft Dog Treats. Trader Joe's has stores in many locations. I thought that this 10-ounce box was not a bad price at $2.29. You may see these as bags as well rather than boxes.

Since Hanna is fussy I don't like to buy large boxes of anything. This small - 1 by ½ inch- size treat is soft. It looks like a fig bar so if you leave them out your kids might just eat them. Of course when you see the ingredients you won't have to worry

Ingredients: Unbleached wheat flour, cane molasses, palm oil, peanut butter, whole wheat flour, glycerin, oats, nonfat milk, salt, natural peanut butter flavor, baking soda, egg powder, soy lecithin, and brewer's yeast. They smell delicious and look really tasty even without any sugar though I do understand cane molasses is a form of sugar. They are made with no by- products, additives, and no preservatives.

They are soft and have a soft peanut butter flavor inside. Since Hanna is small I give her 1/2 and she is very happy. She turns up her nose at Milk Bones Natural Snacks which are supposed to look like they have marrow inside.

I found the second product in a rare trip to Wal-Mart. They are made by Blue Dog Bakery located in Seattle, WA. What I didn't even realize is that they come in 100 calorie packs which are now so popular in the human world. Each pack has 100 calories. I bought the peanut butter but you can see at the website that the company makes a whole host of flavors. These Premium Natural Low Fat Dog Treats come in a 7.05- ounce box with eight packs. Each treat is 10 calories. I paid an amazingly low price of $3.77. These are small treats perfect for my 8 -pound Pomeranian who adores them. These smell delicious as well.

The ingredients are unbleached wheat flour, whole wheat flour, black strap molasses, palm oil, nonfat milk, oats, natural caramel color, egg powder, salt, baking soda, natural peanut butter flavor, brewers yeast. If I were to compare the two I would say that black strap molasses is better than can molasses but I'm really nit picking.

After a few minutes on the Internet, I discovered that Blue Dog Bakery has soft dog biscuits and they are available at Amazon (as well as other places). I called the bakery and they confirmed that they are the ones they used to make for Trader Joe's.
