During my frequent trips to Trader Joe's I had always noticed the Trader Joe's Veggie Chips Potato Snacks, but didn't find them of enough interest to pick up a bag. I like slightly salty snacks and veggie chips didn't seem to fit that description. Curiosity got the best of me though one day when a family member I was shopping with decided to purchase a bag of the Trader Joe's Veggie Chips Potato Snacks because the price was a good deal- $1.99 for a 6 ounce bag.
The packaging for the veggie chips also caught my attention because of the bag's orange hue. There was also a clear plastic window that let you see that the Trader Joe's Veggie Chips Potato Snacks were three colors- a natural chip hue, orange and green. The colors might remind you of a pale carrot and green bean. Would the Trader Joe's Veggie Chips Potato Snacks actually taste like vegetables? I hoped not.
After tasting the first veggie chip I knew I would be hooked on Trader Joe's Veggie Chips Potato Snacks. I told the family member that the chip reminded me of the rice chips at a Chinese restaurant. After taking a couple more from her bag I realized they actually reminded me of Munchos, my favorite potato chip because of its light salty taste. The Trader Joe's Veggie Chips Potato Snacks tasted much healthier and hardier than Munchos though.
The Trader Joe's Veggie Chips Potato Snacks have pretty good nutrition stats at 140 calories for a serving of 26 chips with 90 calories from fat. There are 7 grams of fat per serving as well as 16 grams of carbohydrates, 240 mg of sodium and no cholesterol. Each bag of Trader Joe's veggie chips is only 6 ounces, but looks to be much more than that. There are six servings per bag if you stay within the one ounce serving guidelines. It's hard for me to just eat one serving sometimes.
The ingredients of the Trader Joe's Veggie Chips Potato Snacks are potato, (starch and flakes), hi oleic expeller pressed vegetable oil (sunflower and/or safflower and/or canola oil), sea salt, tomato powder, spinach powder and turmeric.
I would highly recommend the Trader Joe's Veggie Chips Potato Snacks to anyone looking for an alternative to potato chips. You'll feel as though you're eating a healthy alternative to fattening potato chips. Feel free to pack the Trader Joe's Veggie Chips Potato Snacks in your son or daughter's school lunch. Or keep them to yourself as a snack.
