Many of the citizens of Mena are on a bowling league. Every week the leagues have tournaments and on Saturdays the local bowling alley host Family night. On family night, prices are lowered, smoking is prohibited, and fun is definitely allowed. Inside the bowling alley there is a game room with a pool table and a snack bar. It is easy to lose track of time when you do not have to worry about food or fun. Hours can be sent trying to beat your previous score and having fun with your family. However the bowling ally does close and you do have to leave sometime.
Most of Mena takes to the streets after they leave the bowling alley. The nightlife in Mena can leave the main drag extremely busy. Many people park at various businesses on the street and talk to there friends. One place that people hang out is Cruiser's driven. There you can order the most delicious milk shake that you have ever tasted. They come in a variety of flavors and a cheap. You can even order one with graham cracker crumbled on the top of it. The nighttime is a time for people to hang out at cruisers and talk about the latest gossip in town and how well they bowled. They can spend hours just sitting and talking as they watch the traffic go by. It is a small town tradition that has been handed down through out the generations.
If you are up for a little bit of change in the routine and a view that is breath taking take a drive up the mountain. The nightlife in Mena means seeing the area through nature. If you take a moon lit drive up the mountain, you should stop at the outlooks as you go up. Each outlook provides a different view of the world around Mena. It is inspiring to see that we live in such a beautiful area. At night the stars show brightly over the presiding forest and the town seems aglow in its liveliness. It is a wonderfully peaceful drive that can prepare you for the best sleep that you have ever had in your life.
After a long night enjoying what Mena has to offer, you go home knowing that tomorrow will be the same thing. The world around you may change but Mena always stays the same. Traditions are strong here and the nightlife has never been any different but it is peaceful. There is something nice about knowing the routine is there. You can enjoy it if you want to or you can just stay home. There is no shame in living the quite life and there is some pride in knowing that the nighttime traditions carry on. Years from now you can still go bowling, go to cruisers, and drive up the mountain for fun and relaxation because, that is what we do here.
