C.A. Jacobs

Looking for a cranberry sauce recipe that is a little different? Here is a tried and true recipe perfect for Thanksgiving dinner that makes a beautiful presentation and tastes delicious.

12 ounces of fresh cranberries

1 cup of sugar

1 cup of water

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

4 tablespoons Grand Marnier

fresh grated orange rinds or minced mint leaves

2 cans pear halves

Wash and pat dry cranberries. In a medium size sauce pan, combine sugar and water. Stir ingredients over a low heat setting until sugar is dissolved. Add cranberries to the mixture and continue cooking for an additional 5 to 7 minutes. Remove cranberry mixture from the heat and add in cinnamon and Grand Marnier. Allow cranberry sauce to cool completely and refrigerate until ready to serve.

For a special presentation, place a scoop of the cranberry sauce inside individual pear halves (hallowed out orange halves can be substituted for the pear halves). Top with minced mint leaves or fresh grated orange rinds.

Your guests will love this twist to the traditional cranberry sauce and definitely beats the canned version. Happy Thanksgiving!
