Traditional Holiday Dinner

I set the table, silverware arranged, like mama taught me, and grandma taught her.

Grandma would've been here today, but Diabetes took her. Doctor said it was what

She ate. Still, mama continued tradition. The aroma of cultural African American foods

loomed. I wondered if mama would be here next holiday, or me the next.
