Thoughts on Throat Coat Tea
These tea bags look like a typical tea bag, but they smell wonderful! Just dipping them in my boiling water lets me know that these are something special. I have developed a likeness for licorice flavored tea, and that flavor comes through as the main taste in this tea. There is also a hint of orange, peppermint and cinnamon, and the combination is actually very pleasing. Of course I always add honey to my tea, no matter what flavor I choose, so I can't speak for how this tastes all by itself. With honey, it is sweet and earthy, and it really does what it claims to do, it coats the throat to give temporary relief from pain. I have not found any other tea that actually provides some relief from dry, scratchy, sore throat pain! This will be a product that I will have on hand during the cold and flu season, as I would rather drink a tea than pop a pill.
The directions say to add 8 ounces of boiled water to a tea bag, then cover the cup and allow it to steep for 10-15 minutes. The directions say right up front that the amount of steeping time affects the benefits you will experience. This tea can be consumed 4 to 6 times daily. If you want, you can gargle with the tea before swallowing it, but I find this distasteful and don't gargle with mine. Last, the company also recommends that adding honey will enhance benefits, especially in dry climates.
I have a heart condition, so I appreciate that this tea is caffeine free. Also impressive is that it is certified USDA organic, and has been tested in clinical trials. The box contains 16 wrapped tea bags.
