Traffic Exchanges Are Your Web Advertising Solution

How to Get Free Website Traffic and Build Your Online Presence

Why do I need traffic to my website?

If you have a website, you need traffic. It's that simple. Would you build a store 300 miles away from the nearest town? If you did, you'd be out of business in a hurry. Running a website is the same way. If you want to sell something on the Internet, you need visitors to your website -- a source of traffic. Would you go kayaking without a paddle? Again, it's the same thing: if you're going to have a web presence, web traffic is a vital piece of your equipment.

What's a traffic exchange, and why are they a good choice?

Most advertising solutions are expensive. Mainstream advertising campaigns can be incredibly costly, and a lot of the websites that allow you to run small campaigns are a trap for inexperienced advertisers - you have to master the systems to succeed, or you'll be getting a lot of empty, ignored advertising; without knowledge, you'll probably be throwing your money down a hole (or, technically, into the ad companies' pockets, for which they're very thankful).

Traffic exchanges are different. It's a simple concept: for each time you view another user's website, another user will be sent to yours. In exchange for a small amount of your time, you get guaranteed real visitors sent to your website. These users tend to be interested in online marketing or home business activities, which can be a great market if you're trying to sell something (because their wallets are already out). Traffic exchanges are simple to use (all you need is a website and the ability to click) and the learning curve peaks very quickly.

How do I start using traffic exchanges?

All you need is a website and a functional human being (if you're a functional human being, so much the better). You sign up, enter your website address, and look for the link that tells you to "Start surfing!" (Surfing means viewing other users' websites.) Each time you view a page, you will earn some number of "credits". Each credit means that another user will be sent to your site. Many of these exchanges have tens of thousands of users, so that's a ton of potential new members or customers for your website. I could go into more detail on how to use traffic exchanges, but trust me: they're very simple. You will be better served by simply finding one and signing up than by trying to find a list of instructions.
