Tragedy in Tucson: Is Sarah Palin Responsible?

Heroes from the Arizona Shootings

Jacqueline Winslow
Over the past few days, we've all watched and listened as politics shroud around the attempted assassination of Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona. According to AOL Video, we hear attacks against the Tea Party and Sarah Palin. The attacks presume that the Tea Party and Sarah Palin share responsibility in the attacks.

We, as Americans, should be grieving at the loss of life. It is grievous to hear what one man did to so many people. What we shouldn't be doing is pointing fingers at political figures that they could somehow be to blame for this heinous crime. In our country's sorrow, instead of pointing blame on others, let's stand together in unity reminding Americans that we are strong, united, and unyielding.

Anytime we've had an assassination in our country, there is turmoil, grief and heartache to follow. According to Atlantic Wire on Yahoo News, we've learned that the loss of lives have been lost lives due to one man, Jared Lee Loughner.

We must hold this man accountable. He chose end the lives of amazing, innocent people. We can point fingers all day long, but this man is responsible. Political figures like Sarah Palin are not responsible for the actions of other people. It is understandable to point blame after such a tragedy, but let us keep the blame where it belongs.

Somehow, in an attempted assassination, plus the killings of innocent lives, the proof of guilt becomes this powerful enigma into itself. It is as if we are watching a horror movie unfold in front of us. This young man chose to do an evil thing. The people he killed were mothers, daughters, aunts, uncles -- they were real people. These people are American heroes.

Can we point fingers to each politician who has said something that could anger individuals? Sure, the truth is that this happens every day. With debates raging on our country's economy, immigration, and all the other political issues -- of course, Americans have strong opinions.

The difference is when a person takes lives into his hands and purposefully ends another life. Now, we are in a different league entirely.

    Such a terrible happening.

Someone should put crosshairs all over a photo of Sarah Palin and see how innocent she finds it.

If anything good is to come of this tragedy in Tucson it will be that people will see how nutty and thuggish Sarah Palin is. She talks like a hunter/murderer and now here we are. Let's hope that this will put her idiocy out to pasture, along with the lunatics and fringes of society who think she has something to offer.

Of course Sarah Palin is responsible. She's a dreadful, wretched, rancid-smelling whore.

And if there is a person whose influence causes a death, usually, the person with the power to influence is charged with the responsiblilty of that crime. It is a historial fact, In this case the man was mentally disturbed so Sarah Palin's crosshairs were an instruction to him. How is she able to get away with basically saying, "kill this person"? THen when it happens, we are told that its not her fault we should blame him. NO! You cannot yell fire in a crowded building, and you cannot put crosshairs on someone which is basically a hitlist, and then say your heart goes out to that person's family as you cross them off the list!

what kills me is that the media keeps trying to tell us what we should be thinking. I think what I want to think and in this situation, I think Sarah Palin has incited violence with her words and her actions. She throws a rock and hides her hand.

Kudos on writing this article, Jacqueline. I think it's despicable how the press is exploiting this tragedy to throw blame on conservative Americans everywhere.

  • You are wrong Jacqueline1/11/2011

Stop trying to be so neutral! I have been listening to the Tea party talk radio and their calls to action and they are not peaceful! If a crime is committed in a gang territory, don’t you not blame gangs? If extremist terrorists blow up buildings, do you not blame the organization promoting such acts? If it rains, is it not the clouds faults? Wake up America! Which party has been promoting this kind of actions whether it was meant to be taken literal or not, who is it…who!!! The Tea Party is at fault and not by political affiliation but by promoting veiled hate.
