Trailing Kisses

April Higney
She hears him whispering for her to come closer.

She follows his voice, a quietly echoing trail,

between maple and tall pine,

along the drifting wind-song, his words sail.

She sees his shadowy movement,

laughter flowing from the brook.

He giggles as he runs along,

hanging onto her romance book.

She sighs at the funny thought,

this game of chase,

he catches her off guard,

a sudden embrace.

He whispers for her to come closer.

She follows his voice, kisses echoing along her skin, they trail,

between maple and tall pine,

along the drifting wind-song, his words make her heart sail.
