Glenn Roeder will be delighted with this signing because he did mark him down, as his number one transfer target. Again, Middlesbrough will have the option to recall Grounds after the first 28 days of the loan period. Norwich fans will hope the grounds will stay until the end of the season. Jonathan Grounds is a natural left footer who is equally adept at playing at centre half or left full-back. Roeder is likely to mainly use him as a centre half.
Bearing in mind a transfer window is now open rumours are starting to circulate. In this case, both stories appear to be totally unfounded. The first story surrounding around Antoine Sibierski and claimed he had signed on a free transfer. However, it has now been confirmed by Wigan boss Steve Bruce that Sibierski is set to end his loan spell in mid-January. Furthermore, he stated there has been no contact from Norwich to extend his stay in Norfolk. The other rumour was a possible move for Wes Hoolahan to Leeds United. Bearing in mind, the player in question only signed in the summer it looks unlikely. Also, a fee of 300,000 is unbelievably low.
If Norwich did make the decision to cash in during this transfer window it would surely be for significant money. For the time being it's a case of watch this space, but it appears likely that Glenn Roeder will look to strengthen his squad with a combination of loans and bargain buys. With Jonathan Grounds in the building the big question will be about replacing Leroy Lita.
