In this article I will go through the complete process of getting your music onto a portable device such as a jump-drive and or CD's to be able to take it to another computer. Once I let you know how to get it there, I will also let you know what you have to do in order to be able to listen to it.
1. Insert a blank CD-R or a CD-RW into your CD drive or a USB portable device into the USB Port.
2. Go to Start, My Computer, and then open the CD/USB drive folder.
3. Then go to Start and open up your My Music folder.
4. Once you have them both open drag the music files you want to transfer to your blank CD folder/jump-drive.
Note: Once you have inputted some files, you should make sure that you're not putting too many files in, so you will have to check how much space you have left.
5. To check how much space you have, highlight all of the files, right click, and chose properties.
6. Once you have that window open, check for the size of your files and then check how much disk space you have.
7. Close this window once you're done, add more or delete the files that don't fit.
8. Once you're ready to write the files to your CD, look to the left had side menu and there you will see the Write These Files To CD.
Note: If you're using a USB portable device, skip steps 8 and 9.
9. Click on the link and it will popup a screen. Press Ok until the files start writing and then wait for it to finish.
Once the files have been written to the CD it will eject it automatically. Then you will be able to take them to your new computer/laptop and just copy them off the CD to the My Music folder there.
To do that, insert the CD into the drive or the USB port and wait for the folder to open, or open it through MyComputer. Once you have the music files in front of you, copy and then paste them to your MyMusic files. Once you have them there, they will be available for you to listen using Windows Media Player.
