Transformation

Jill Davidson

I am charcoal, dark, soft brittle,
full of impurities, combustible.
Doubt, pride, selfishness consume me;
trial and adversity press down on me.
I cling to God with absolute faith
that he will make me pure in spirit.
I travel time's caravan of gradual transformation.
The heat and pressure vitrify me
as coal becomes diamond, reflective, brilliant.
I will be perfected, polished, beautified,
through the grace of a loving God.

    This is such a beautiful way to describe the continual refining we go through in Christ
