Sam Witwicky is a typical teenager on the quest for a great car to attract girls. His dad takes him to a used dealership where he purchases Bumblebee, an autobot sent to protect Sam. Bumblebee takes his job seriously and even tries to help Sam win over his high school crush by playing different love songs on the radio. The scenes of Sam trying to impress Mikaela Banes, played by Megan Fox, are some of my favorite scenes of the movie.
Sam quickly realizes that there is "more then meets the eye" with his car as he finds out he holds the key to finding the Allspark. The Autobots do their best to protect Sam from the Decepticons and also the secret US government agency, Sector 7. Of course the US government knows about the Allspark and they even have the evil Megatron in cold storage. Sector 7 finally realizes not all Aliens are evil and team up with Sam and the Autobots to take down the Decepticons and the unfrozen Megatron.
Transformers is a fast paced action adventure with tons of special effects. The CGI for the Transformers is amazing. All of the robotic characters are amazing. It is too bad I can't say the same thing for the human actors. Shia LeBeouf was great and I did enjoy his character but pretty much everyone else sucked, especially John Turturro as Agent Simmons. Agent Simmons is one of the head agents of Sector 7 and a very confusing character. One minute he is a total jerk to Sam and the Autobots, the next minute he is hitting on the teenager Mikaela, and then all of a sudden his is in love with the Autobots and does his best to help them out. His overacting was atrocious and I just didn't get the split personality type of character. My other least favorite actor was Anthony Anderson as Glen Whitman. I suppose the director was trying to add some comic flair but Glen Whitman fell flat as an annoying hacker.
Overall Transformers is a great movie and I have watched it several times just because I enjoy all the special effects with the robots. Plus Shia LeBeouf is his usual adorable self. I give the movie 4 out of 5 stars.
