IT IS A RED TRANSFORMER ROBOT MODEL, ERECTED BY TOWER BRIDGE IN LONDON.
GIANT BUS WHEELS CAN BE SEEN IN THE JOINTS OF THE DRIOD AS IT STANDS ON A PROWL. tHE FRONT WHEELARCHES AND HEADLIGHT UNITS SIT ON HIS SHOULDERS. iNDICATORS APPEAR TO ACT AS THE EYES. THEY EVEN FOUND A USE FOR THE ROUTE DISPLAY; PLACING IT AS A CHEST PLATE BELOW THE NECK OF THE ROBOT.
APPARTNELY, 61,000 TWITTER FANS HAD VOTED TO SEE A LONDON BUS MADE INTO A TRANSFORMER TO COINSIDE THE DVD RELEASE OF "Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen."
The 13ft model took over 650 hours to make and has 100 parts. THE ONLY PROBLEM I STRESS, IS, ITS NOT AS BIG AS YOU WOULD EXPECT, AND NOT QUITE AS VISIBLE AS IT SHOULD BE FROM THE BRIDGE. NEVER THE LESS, ITS A WONDERFUL "FEET" OF ENGINEERING AND INGINUITIY. NEVER BEFORE HAVE THE BRITISH - TO MY KNOWLEDGE - TRIED TO CREATE A TRANSFORMER WHILST KEEPING THE SPIRIT OF THE ORIGINAL VIECHLE. AND THE TRANSFORMER SERIES HAS "NOT YET" DONE A CHARACTER DIGUISED AS A BUS. ALTHOUHG ONE COULD MISTAKE THIS DRIOD FOR THE AUTOBOT LEADER "OPTIMUIS PRIME!"
OF COURSE, THERE ARE THOSE WHO DONT WANT TO SEE THINGS LIKE THIS GO TO GOOD USE. SOME WHO WOULD SPIT AT THE NOTION OF RECYCLING, OR GOOD NEWS. SUCH AS BORIS JOHNSON, WHO DECLARED TO RID LONDON OF THE BENDY BUS WITHOUT THINKING OF HOW TO DO SO. THE INTENDED REPLACEMENT FOR THESE LONG BUSUS - THAT TOOK UP TOO MUCH SPACE AND KEPT CATCHING FIRE - IS A NEW ROATEMASTER BUS, THAT LOOKS AWFUL.
DESPITE THIER UNPOPULARITY, AS I HAVE ALREADY SAID IN MY "BORIS JOHN SONS VERSES THE BENDY BUS" ARTICLE, I WOULD LOVE TO OWN ONE PRIVATELY, OR SEE HERTFORDSHIRE BUY A COUPLE UP. THEY COULD EVEN BE PRIVATE LIMOSUINES, IN SUCH TERMS.
IN THE MEAN TIME, LETS ENJOY THIS NICE LITTLE SPECTILE BY THE THAMES, FOR HOW LONG IT LASTS.
