It would be an understatement to say that Brett Favre was liked in Wisconsin. Rather, the loyal Wisconsinites placed him upon a pedestal where he was loved and adored. On NFL Sundays, especially on the Lambeau Field altar, he was almost god-like.
The folks in Green Bay and throughout the state of Wisconsin generally seem to be a forgiving bunch and though Favre wreaked havoc on the Packers during their off-season following their 2007-2008 year, they seemed willing to welcome him back into their fold after his one year fling with the New York Jets. However, Brett Favre does not seem content to live out his days in the heavenly kingdom of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Green Bay and all of Wisconsin would probably have always remained the sacred grounds where Favre would have always been welcomed and loved by his legions of fans. It was certain that one day his infamous #4 Green Bay Packer jersey would have been ceremoniously retired at Lambaeu Field. Ultimately, someday when Favre would have breathed his last earthly breath, his presence would have always been felt at Lambeau Field, the city of Green Bay and throughout the entire state of Wisconsin along with all the great and loyal Green Bay Packer legends that preceded him in glory.
Throughout the summer of 2009, Favre has teased the media and the public about the possibility of his playing quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings for the upcoming 2009-2010 NFL season. He seems to harbor a grudge against the Green Bay Packer organization. He appears ready to join the Minnesota Vikings, one of the Green Bay Packers arch rivals, so as to have the opportunity to exact revenge on the Packer organization and to rub their noses in it should he be successful in accomplishing his mission.
I am sure that some people will agree with me and others will vehemently disavow everything that I say. If Brett Favre signs a contract with the Minnesota Vikings, I recommend that the Green Packer fans treat him like the turncoat that he would be and welcome him back like no one has ever been welcomed back before. I propose that a special event be created for November 1, 2009 when The Minnesota Vikings travel to Green Bay to take on an Aaron Roger's Packer team. Perhaps even declare it a new state holiday. Let's call it, "Trash Your Brett Favre Stash Day!"
In the weeks preceding this occasion, special trash containers should be spread across the state. They should be boldly labeled, "Trash Your Favre Stash." In the days just prior to the game, a fleet of garbage trucks marked, "Trash Your Favre Stash" should canvass the state collecting all the Favre rubbish from of all the cans. On the eve of the game, the Favre stash should be dumped from the garbage trucks into a giant pile in the Lambeau Field parking lot. Green Bay Packer fans from all over should gather together and form a human chain that leads from the pile of Favre trash in the parking lot to a near by giant manure pit. Each piece of Favre stash should be passed from the pile in the parking lot to the manure pit. There the items will be hoisted and trashed once and for all. This act could serve as sort of a unique ceremony for retiring Favre's jersey, among other things.
Hopefully, this will rattle the poor fellow and he will turn in a sub-par performance that leaves the Vikings short of victory in their game against the Packers. Perhaps, this will so disturb him that he flounders throughout the season. He surely will despair, if he fails to lead the Vikings to victory over the Packers, let alone a trip to the playoffs, or a Super Bowl Championship. Without a Super Bowl ring, a playoff appearance, a victory over the Packers and new record in the record book, he will be faced with a serious dilemma. Whatever shall he do? Will he retire forever from the NFL? Will retire from the Vikings and un-retire with another team that he feels that he is more capable of leading to victory over the Packers and to a Super Bowl victory? Will he remain playing with the Minnesota Vikings until that day in which he can be hailed as a slayer of the Green Bay Packers, perhaps even leading the Vikings all the way to a Super Bowl title? Thus he would become known as the famous leader of Vikings who took them to their first trip to the fields of the Promised Land, that special place that to date the Vikings have never grazed.
Disclosure: I am not a Green Bay Packer fan.

Post a CommentNot happy with Favre's waffling, but TT is guilty as well.
Oh! This hurts my heart! I love him, lol. I will grudgingly admit he's behaved badly the last few years, but still!
Tell Favre to just retire already. ps..I was thrilled when the Dolphins beat the Jets for the AFC East Championship last season!
The last time I was in Milwaukee there was a huge Favre billboard labeled "Traitor."
Fun read Brett who!
I read all 3 today, and I say "nice job". As far as I'm concerned, Brett Favre is to Green Bay as Heath Shuler is to the Big Orange!
Brett Who? LOL.
He'll be laughing all the way to the bank no matter what happens!
Another great Brett Favre article, Han!
