Trashion Craft Project: Creating a Toilet Paper Art Sculpture

SDR2010
Ever since I was four years old I can remember people in my family picking the garbage. I remember thinking of how nasty it was to know about them actually picking the trash and I wondered what people would think if they found out. Most of the time I felt embarrassed when someone in my family would talk about the unique crafts that they found in the garbage. I even remember my uncle talking about some soda cans that he had found in the garbage and I asked him on one occasion why he would do this. He told me that he enjoyed looking in the garbage that other people had already left for the garbage collection because he often found treasures. He never found money but he often found supplies that he could use to decorate his house and this would provide him with a custom look without any of the cost. This is what is known as Trashion in the world of fashion and the concept is based on turning found trash into fashion for yourself and within your home. Since I learned about Trashion I have completed many projects and I believe the paper towel sculpture is probably the easiest and best looking project.

What you will need is 1 roll of paper towels, 1 roll of toilet paper tissue, and a pair of scissors. You may also want one roll of brown wrapping paper (optional) but I found these towels in my local garbage bin. You will need to cut a circular hole into the center of the paper towel roll and be sure the hole is big enough to fit the toilet paper roll inside. Once you have the hole cut out you simply fit the toilet paper role into the hole and be sure the opposite end of the toilet paper roll is vertically standing on a level surface. The paper towel portion will display horizontally and create the look of a nice display stand in a very artistic way. At this point you are finished or you can simply choose to glue each of the two rolls together where they fit into each other in order to be sure the design doesn't fall apart. As an optional step, you can also wrap the outside of the sculpture with brown wrapping paper in order to create a uniform look. However, I simply used the two rolls that I found in the trash for this Trashion sculpture.
