Travel to Ace Adventure Resort in West Virginia

Ace Adventure Resort is a thrill seeking enthusiast's dream located just north of Oak Hill, West Virginia. The state of West Virginia has always been known for its beautiful scenic locations, however Ace Adventure Resort at Oak Hill is truly any sport minded person's mecca when it comes to almost anything you could ever ask for in adventure at one place.

Ace Adventure Resort has numerous adventure excursions and depending on the stay it takes most people several trips to complete all of the exciting activities. Paintball is one of my favorite sports and Ace Adventure Resort has a large paintball facility in which to conquer. There are various mountain biking and horse riding trails, as well as numerous trails designed especially for hiking and four-wheel fun. I really loved the four-wheeler trails that wind through the New River Gorge, the four-wheeler adventures come complete with great tandem machines and include riding instructions and safety orientation. The excursions are fully equipped with guides and well designed to not only keep your heart pumping, but provide a full body workout. In most cases the trails are approximately three hours of pure adrenaline. Private ATVs are not allowed for insurance purposes.

The horse riding was another one of my favorite adventure excursions considering I can't think of anyone that doesn't enjoy riding horses through some of the most exquisitely scenic panoramic areas around. There are many different guided horseback trail rides, including a sunset one that oversees the beautiful town of Thurmond, on the banks of the New River. The sunset tour is approximately 75 dollars for adults and the minimum age requirement is eight years old. Trail rides vary in time, however the half day is great and follows along the New River. The age requirement is ten years old and prices start at approximately 90 dollars for adult. Trail rides are very popular so you have to make sure you design your trip with Ace to include everything you want to do before you check in to make sure they have space for you. Another special touch is the hay ride tours that you can use to wind down your day's activities.

The zip line canopy tours are exquisite and put a whole new spin on seeing the beautiful West Virginia landscape. Soaring through the forest at more than 50 feet is a real thrill and there are many zip lines linked by giant platforms, in which to span the whole Ace Adventure area. The zip line canopy tours are world class and designed for a full day of fun through New River Canyon. Maximum weight is 290 lbs and there is a minimum age limit of 10 years old. The zip lines can reach speeds of 35 mph and are fun for everyone from first timers to experienced thrill seekers. Adults are approximately 90 dollars and youth are approximately 80 dollars for half a day. An evening tour which runs about 2 hours is 75 dollars for adults and 65 dollars for youth.

For the more adventurous, there are numerous specially designed kayaking and white water rafting trips, as well as guided fishing expeditions that include some of the best full day fishing excursions around. The fishing expeditions are approximately from daybreak to late evening and license, bait and tackle are not included. The fishing excursions are offered in either one or two day increments and the self bailing rafts offer great stable fishing atmospheres for the whitewater parts of the New River Gorge. In some instances people may choose to utilize not only the fishing expeditions, but the overnight rafting excursions in combination. Ace Adventure Resort is great about custom designing any type of sport excursion you want, whether for a small or a large party. Prices depend largely on the activities requested however a one day trip is approximately 210 dollars per person with a minimum of two people.

The kayaking tours range in price and length, however they range from full to half day in length and revolve around Plum Orchard Lake or Summersville Lake. They can include leisurely excursions on crystal pristine waters or more of an active physical challenge. All the kayaks are easy to paddle and very sturdy providing fun for all ages. Minimum age requirement is eight years for rider and ten years to paddle solo.

Ace Adventure Resort also has many different rock climbing formations, in which to scale that can excite any level of rock climber from avid to experienced.

Ace Adventure Resort has a beautiful five acre lake area that combines almost every imaginable water-park ride activity including water-slides, zip lines, inflatable launch areas. The beach area is pristine and has plenty of beautifully mapped out beach areas, in which to do most anything ranging from beach volleyball to simply laying in the sun.

The rates range for four-wheeler single operator at approximately 150.00 dollars to a tandem rider at 40.00 dollars, however there is a minimum age requirement of 18 years old for operator and 12 years old for tandem rider.

I loved almost everything about this trip, however some of the excursions were a tad bit out of my activity range, however I must admit it could have been that I was just chicken to tackle some of the activities.

Ace Adventure Resort has just about every piece of equipment needed especially when it comes to the activities, however you will want to ask when you make your reservations for details on what you need to bring. Large lodges are approximately 400 dollars per night, however they sleep a large amount of people. Each lodge has a maximum capacity, so you should call well in advance to make sure you get the one you need. A small chalet is approximately 130 dollars per night, with a maximum capacity of 6. Lodges come with heat and air and most have hot tubs and kitchens.

Ace also has other lodging options including rustic lodging such as bunkhouses that have restroom and shower facilities only a short distance away. As well as some great camping area in which you can bring your own equipment or rent fully outfitted camping rigs. Prices vary depending on the need and everyone should check availability and pricing when calling for reservations.

I truly enjoyed the whole Ace Adventure Resort experience and would recommend it to any family or couple wanting a unique adventure to remember for the rest of their life. The Ace Adventure Resort staff is very knowledgeable, highly trained and truly go out of their way to make sure every adventurer has the best possible stay possible.
