Looking at wildlife in a boxed screen is definitely incomparable to seeing it for real. Below is a guide to some of the best destinations in the country.
Okavango Delta, a gorgeous inland delta, situated in the north of Botswana, is the largest Delta in the world. Its stream surrounds the Kalahari Desert, which has made the abundance of palm islands and other plantation possible. Flora such as papyrus particularly outlines the reservoirs. The delta is also swarming with rare birds and other interesting animals. Both resident and traveling birds can be seen just around Okavango. Huge animals that commonly graze near the reservoirs include buffaloes, elephants and giraffes. Lying around the lagoons are hippos lazily spending their siesta. All these amazing animals can be observed in their natural healthy habitat.
The Kalahari Desert comprises 84% of Botswana's terrain ground. This desert differs remarkably to that of the usual and famous desserts like the Sahara Desert. Kalahari is sheltered with numerous floras - from trees, plants, bushes, grasses, even scrubs. Surprisingly though, they are still scant of water supply, thus being categorized as desert.
Moremi Reserve is in the heart of Okavango Delta. You'll find this stunning reserve named after Chief Moremi of the BaTawana tribe. This magnificent reserve provides refuge for a diverse wildlife selection such as zebras, giraffes, elephants and buffaloes. This is also inclusive of some fierce animals such as cheetahs, leopards, and lions.
If Moremi is in the heart of Okavango, the Xakanaxa is in the center of Moremi. This lagoon is inhabited by plenty of antelopes, thus making it a hot spot for predatory animals like wild dogs and leopards. Tourists can always be part of the action as there are private and public quarters available in the area.
Mashatu Game Reserve is located in the eastern part of Botswana, among the union of Limpopo and Shashe rivers, this is the largest game reserve in South Africa. If you're up for exploring wildlife at night, this place would permit you to view other nocturnal marauders such as aardwolves, genets and even leopards. Since it is privately owned, you can explore the place off the road, to get you more acquainted with the animals. They also offer a huge variety of birds like kingfishers, rollers, martial and black eagles, and hornbills for everybody's viewing pleasure.
