However, you can stop, and really explore Alaska if you want too. This is a great choice especially if you have your own car or motor home. Most people travel through Canada to get to Alaska, and they travel on the Alaska-Canada Highway (ALCAN).
Flying to Alaska
If you are in a hurry to travel to Alaska, flying is your best way to travel. There are over a dozen different airlines that fly to Alaska. Your flying time to Alaska usually ranges from the United States from 3 hours to 7 ½ hours. You will probably land in Fairbanks, Anchorage, Ketchikan, or Juneau. Once you land in Alaska, you can start exploring Alaska on your own.
Alaska Railroad
Another pretty way to see scenic Alaska is to take the Alaska Railroad. It is not as fast as flying to Alaska, but it makes better time than driving in your car. The Alaska Railroad goes 500 miles through South Central Alaska. There are some Alaskan tours that even provide commentary. It is a nice relaxing way to enjoy Alaska.
Ferry to Alaska
Another way to travel to Alaska is to take the ferry. It is called the Marine Highway. It has year round ferry service. It is a great way to see coastal scenery. You can even just walk on if you want, or bring your bike besides driving your vehicle on the ferry. If you do not want to drive the whole time you are in Alaska, this might be a nice break for you. So if you want to travel to Alaska, remember there are many different ways to see Alaska and enjoy its beauty.
