Need a vacation, one that steps out of this time and takes you back to a time when gentlemen were chivalrous and when woman were classy, respectful and dainty ladies, that adorned the most beautiful dresses from the far east and Europe. A time where fidelity, honor, dignity and passion were a way of life. Well this is the place to visit, "The Biltmore Estates", located in Asheville, NC, this spectacular palace is known to be the largest residential house in America, a record that still stands today. Well, I took this trip with my husband last month and I have to say it was the most romantic place to reconnect to each other, this place is magical and tranquil all rapped up in beauty and kindness.

History of Biltmore Estates

The building of this massive project took the knowledge of some of the most renowned architects during this time; such as Richard Morris Hunt, whom modeled the house after three palaces that were built in the 16th century France. This amazing house features four acres of floor space with 34 bedrooms, 250 total rooms and 43 bathrooms with 65 beautifully sculpted original fireplaces. At the basement level housed the servants quarters (which were extremely elegant and posh). Along with the indoor swimming pool, changing rooms, bowling alley, gymnasium, several kitchens and so much more.

During a trip to Paris, France, George Vanderbilt met and instantly fell in love with Edith Stuyvesant Dresser. In the summer of 1889 George and Edith were married and then returned to America where this bride must have found herself in shock at the monstrous house now to be hers. George and Edith Vanderbilt opened up the estate to family and friends on Christmas Eve in 1895. Georges reason why he built such an extravagant home; he wanted a country retreat in which he could pursue his passion for literature, horticulture and the arts. In 1900 the Vanderbilt's gave birth to a daughter Cornelia Vanderbilt (1900-1976) she was born on the estate and grew up on the estate and died on the estate.

Attractions at Biltmore Estates

There are so many attractions to see at the Biltmore Estates that you may not be able to see everything with just one visit. You can take an off road adventure in a Land Rover and explore the new off road paths for four wheeling. Or you may want to escape to a more tranquil setting in one of the many gardens that are filled with flowers of all colors and scents that will tickle your nose. Then you could walk over to the horse drawn buggy and ask him to take you to the winery where you will find a most pleasing place to stop and sip a glass of their wonderful wines and over look the mountains, valleys and river below.

This is the package we chose on our trip

The Romantic Getaway

Includes everything from champagne, candlelit dinners to great accommodations, Estate admission at any time during your stay is included in this package, because you can't see everything in one day. Also in this package you will receive chefs breakfast sent to your room as well as chefs dinner sent up to you room with a waiter to serve you in a most romantic setting that will sketch a most wonderful memories. The package cost for the Romantic Getaway for four night stay is 1,909.55 and this fee includes all amenities excluding alcoholic beverages those will need to be purchased directly. So the total budget we had for this trip was 3,000.00 and with the Romantic Getaway package at a four night stay was 1,909.55, plus add the gas to travel to NC was another 500.00 add that together and you get 2,409.55; which leaves me with us with 590.45 and therefore, I will be able to take my kids in a day trip vacation.

All that I can say about this majestic place is that it's amazing, spectacular piece of American history that everyone could experience. To tell the whole story would take pages and pages, best way is to just do it! Take that romantic trip you and your loved one deserves and pamper each other, while you reconnect as a couple without all the stress of the job, kids, pets and in-law. Travel to Asheville NC and stay at a palace that is still family owned and operated and they take pride to give each person a welcoming stay.
