Travel and Beer

A Great Way to Go

Pair Beer and Vacation

It's summertime and high time to enjoy a great vacation. Is there a better way to find great beer than to pair it with a great travel experience?

Some people travel to golf; others travel to shop or see a baseball game. Many go just to go, don't they? Some of the most stalwart instill a tour or two at distilleries and breweries en route.

Pair some of these beer-based diversions with your vacation.

Denver -- At the foot of the Rocky Mountains, one mile high, lies Denver. Try Wynkoop Brewery, Sandlot at Coor's Field, and New Belgium Brewery in nearby Fort Collins.

Philadelphia -- In the City of Brotherly Love, breweries such as Dock Street and brewpubs of the likes of Triumph and Earth Bread + Brewery are classics places to play.

Seattle -- America's Northwest is beautiful. Rainy, but beautiful. Try Pyramid, Elysian and Pike Brewing as perfect pairs for your ventures to the nation's upper-left tier.

Madison, WI -- Enjoy the flavors and smells of Wisconsin's dairy air and drink some of the best beer in the world. The Ale Asylum, Great Dane brewpubs and the New Glarus Brewery are prime.

Chicago -- The Windy City, The City of Big Shoulders is also the city of big beers. Goose Island, Piece and Walter Payton's Roundhouse are all very accessible and are fine craft brewers.

Enjoy your time away. Have a beer (or three) for me!
