PORTABLE TV: A portable television will allow you to view programs on broadcast channels while traveling. Most of these can be powered using either batteries, a standard AC outlet, or a cigarette lighter. Make sure the TV comes with power cords of the necessary type(s). If you don't already have a radio in your travel trailer, consider purchasing a portable TV with a built-in AM/FM radio; these are usually no more expensive. A portable TV with audio/video inputs, like the Action ACN-3522, will allow a DVD player and some other accessories to be connected. For more details on portable TVs, click here.
SMALL FAN: Electric fans can be useful accessories in a trailer or RV during the summer months. If you pull a trailer behind your vehicle which lacks electricity, a battery-powered fan might be appropriate. Fairly large battery-powered fans are available, although they require a number of batteries. If it has to be used in an RV while it is moving, make sure it will not tip over easily and has a protective cage around both sides of the fan.
MICROWAVE: A small microwave oven can make preparing and re-heating many foods more convenient in a travel trailer or RV. A low-wattage microwave (such as 600 watts) will take somewhat longer to cook food, but is more likely to have its electrical needs met by a travel trailer. You will have to make sure your RV or trailer has the necessary outlets and electrical capabilities before purchasing one of these.
COFFEE MAKER: A compact, portable coffee maker can save you money while traveling in an RV or trailer, especially when the cost of buying coffee at restaurants is considered. Even if you only have the electrical power from a vehicle's cigarette lighter, there are coffee makers available which operate from this. The Field & Stream 12V Auto Coffee Maker (up to 4 cups), the Empire Kar-N-Home (vintage), and the Tracker 12-Volt Coffee Maker (up to ten cups) all will run from a cigarette lighter. Travel coffee mugs or an insulated thermos are useful accessories to purchase with these.
FOLDING CHAIRS: Foldable fabric chairs provide additional seating within the RV or travel trailer if necessary, and can easily be taken outside for outdoor seating as well. Some even have built-in fabric cup/can holders.
RV and trailer accessories can be purchased at stores like Wal-Mart and Target, as well as eBay.com, CraigsList.org, and local newspaper classifieds.
