Travel Games for Kids for Those Long Trips

Sunshine Red
When going on vacation with children you know how often they get bored. They may have movies to watch on the DVD but that will get boring on really long rides. You will want to be prepared for other activities for them so that you can have a peaceful ride to your destination. Here are some great activities that you can do to keep them entertained.

Alphabet Soup: Before leaving make a page with every letter of the alphabet on it and a space beside it so they can write the word. What they are doing is looking for things that start with that letter and they write down what they see. They can make it a game if there is more than one child. This is a great way for them to be entertained for awhile.

License Plate Search: Again before you leave for the trip print off a map of the United States so that each time they see a license plate from that state they can color in the state of that plate. You will want the print out big enough so that they will spend a few minutes coloring. This will keep them looking out the window and searching for the plates. If they are older you can leave the names off of the states so that they will have to first name and locate the state before they can color it in.

Company Search: Before leaving make a sheet that you can print out of the photos of different companies that you will see along the way, this can be places like McDonalds, Hardees, Wal-Mart, Different gas stations, and different stores and shops there will be found on the trip. If you use clip art of these places they will have to place an X on the as you pass them. To make it more of a challenge at the bottom of the page you can scramble the names so that they have to unscramble the names, and put the pictures of the establishments in various positions on the paper, don't make it too easy for them to find them.

These are just some of the games that you can do to keep the kids busy and having fun on the trip. If you do a little planning before you leave on your trip and get your things ready before you leave you will have a more pleasant trip with your children.
