Travel Guide for the Hocking Hills Region In Southeastern Ohio

When in the beautiful Hocking Hills region in southeastern Ohio, you will have many options for accommodations. The Hocking Hills region is set in Logan , Rockbridge, and Nelsonville Ohio. There are many options for lodging in this spectacular area. A Hocking Hills getaway can accommodate any budget. The majority of activities in this area are free of charge. So technically if you can afford a cheap motel rate of around fifty dollars a night, or a campsite fee of around twenty dollars a night, and your meals , you can enjoy a fantastic getaway.

In the Hocking Hills you can enjoy a small town atmosphere, charming people and the great outdoors. Some of the most fantastic activities include hiking in the Hocking Hills state Park, shopping, and viewing local art. The Hocking Hills state Park includes seven great parks scattered through out Hocking County. Admission is free and pets are welcome at all except Conkles Hollow. The most popular "cave" is Old Mans Cave. This is a spectacular spot for hiking. Cantwell Cliffs is the least visited park, however it is the most beautiful. Cantwell Cliffs is certainly off the beaten path, and this adds to the experience. Conkles Hollow includes a nature preserve, and is a very easy hike that is ideal for older folks and small children. Also worth visiting is the Natural Rock Bridge in Rockbridge, Ohio. The Natural Rock Bridge is also a nature preserve, pets are not allowed.

Shopping is fun and affordable at the Hocking Hills Farmers Flea Market in Rockbridge Ohio. Over seventy shops are open indoors and as many, if not more field vendors offer unbeatable deals and unique finds. The Hocking Hills Market is open year round on weekends.

Dining in the Hocking Hills ranges from fast food to fine dining. Logan Ohio offers your traditional McDonalds, Wendys, Burger King, and pizza options. You can also dine at the Spotted Owl, or Julie's Café if you are not interested in fast food. Both places are reasonably priced and very wonderful. If you seek a fine dining experience try the sandstone. If you desire a steak, check out Jack's or Lori's Place on Hocking Drive. In Rockbridge Ohio, stop by The 33 Diner. This is a fantastic 1950's themed diner with great food! Then check out Great Expectations for a great cup of coffee.

When seeking accommodations, you can go extremely cheap, and pitch your tent at several camp grounds, Top o' the Caves is located on state Route 664 South, near Old Mans Cave. Also Campbells Cove is located on Lake Logan Road , near the lovely Lake Logan. Lost Hollow is also a very nice camping spot. You can rent a basic spot without electric for around seven dollars off season, or a site with electric for around twenty dollars year round.

The next step up from camping is the Inn Towner Motel in downtown Logan. This is not a very nice place. It is old and out dated but affordable at rooms priced around forty dollars per night. You also have the option of The Shawnee Inn on Lake Logan Road. This motel is easily accessible from US Highway 33, and it is nice, clean and affordable, with rates around fifty dollars a night.

If you are seeking a hotel, Logan offers the Baymont Inn and The Holiday Inn Express . These two hotels are nice, family friendly and affordable. Rooms range from seventy dollars to around one hundred and thirty dollars. At both The Baymont and The Holiday Inn Express you will have access to an indoor pool and hot tubs.

For superior accommodations you might enjoy a private cabin rental. The Hocking Hills offers hundreds of cabin rentals, and also unique Inns such as the Grouse Nest, Glenlaurel and Old Mans Cave Chalets. The Hocking Hills are a great weekend retreat, or a terrific destination for a fun filled family vacation. The Hocking Hills are also ideal for honeymoons, or romantic getaways.
