Travel Guide: A Magical Visit to Disneyland Paris
A Visit to Paris is Not Complete Without a Day Spent at Disneyland.....The Magic Kingdom!
After you have drug your children through endless museums such as the Louvre and the many cathedrals including Norte Dame, you need to take a fun filled break and enjoy Disneyland Paris for a day or two. Your children will thank you and you will have fun too! It is not far from downtown Paris and with a little planning you will be glad you took this magical detour.
Getting There by Train
Disneyland Paris is located only 35 minutes from downtown Paris. If you are staying in Paris you can take a train to the park very easily. This is how my daughter and I arrived there all on our own. If we can do it you certainly can. The Thalys, Eurostar or the RER A4 trains all arrive at the Marne-La-Vallee/Chessey station which is directly in front of the main entrance to Disneyland Paris. We took the RER A4 train and it was comfortable and clean but crowded. Be prepared to possibly stand up for part of the trip.
Tickets and Hours of Operation
We purchased our tickets for park entrance at the Virgin Megastore on the Champs Elysees in Paris. At the time of our visit this was the best discount available. We saved over $20 (US) on 2 tickets purchased at the Virgin Megastore compared to the Disneystore ticket price or at the gate.
There are two parks at Disneyland Paris; Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. There are separate fees for each park. My daughter and I visited the Disneyland Park and found it to be similar to the traditional park in Anaheim, CA.
Hours of operation vary for seasons and ticket prices also change so check out the parks website for times and ticket information prior to departure.
Review of Disneyland Park
Disneyland Park consists of 5 fun filled lands with magic around every corner. Main Street USA is similar to California's Main Street complete with the Main Street USA Parade. Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland and Discoveryland all create the magic that Disneyland is renowned for. Prepare yourself for the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril ride it is nothing like the one in California! Our favorite ride was Thunder Mountain Railroad, much like the ride in California; this is my kind of roller coaster. Of course there are plenty of restaurants and shops inside the park for souvenir shopping and grabbing a bite to eat. Disneyland Paris is smaller in size than the Disneyland Park in California but not smaller on enjoyment. My daughter and I had a wonderful time spending an entire day at Disneyland Paris!
