Travel Guide for Toronto, Canada

Bill Hanks
Two years ago, my wife and I toured Toronto, Canada. It is considered as the world's most ethnically diverse city and is a very nice place to visit. We went with a guided bus tour. There was good and bad points about this type of tour, as we were able to hit predetermined places, but were restricted to see other places inside the city. This article provides a list of places to enjoy, if you decide to tour Toronto.

Planning Your Visit
Compared to other cities, travel inside the city can be a problem. In the downtown area parking is at a premium. This was one of the advantages of using a tour bus. If you tour by car, select a smaller vehicle. It makes travel and parking easier. Recently, the Transit Commission has instated an all day pass for $10. You can use this pass on all Toronto transit services. You also need to make reservations in advance. The city has a population of close to 3 million residents and this doesn't count visitors.

Places to Visit
St. Lawrence Market Place is considered one of the top 25 food markets in the world. It is located in the historic old town Toronto neighborhood of Jarvis and Front Streets.

Eaton Centre is the largest indoor mall in the city. Located in the heart of the downtown area, it offers shopping at it's best. It has 230 retailers and restaurants. It is a shopping paradise.

The Spadina Museum has recently been restored. A tour of this place gives you an idea of Toronto as it entered the early 20Th century.

Harbourfront Centre is a nice facility to visit. It is located on Lake Ontario. They have festivals throughout the year and is geared towards family entertainment. This centre also offers boat tours and visiting ships.

Vineyards are plentiful around the Toronto area. There are at least nine major vineyards on the outskirts of the city. Here is a list of seven. You could spend a week touring these on your trip.

The CN Tower should be on every visitors list to Toronto. If you love excitement, you can even walk the outside edge of the tower. It offers the best scenic view of the Toronto area.

A place that I wanted to go to but, didn't get there was the Ontario Science Centre. This is a venue that I will make on my next visit.
