Travel Romance: Honeymoon Packages in Manali, India

Heather Carreiro
Situated in the Western Himalayas, Manali is a popular honeymoon destination in India year round. Both foreign and domestic tourists come to Manali to take advantage of outdoor sports opportunities, enjoy the mountain views and escape the summer heat of the plains. For couples looking for a snowy honeymoon destination during the winter months or a place to try sports like rafting, rock climbing, trekking and para-gliding during the summer months, Manali's hotels offer several options for all or semi-inclusive honeymoon packages.

Apple Country Resort

With 39 rooms and suites, Apple Country Resort caters to couples and families. A designated honeymoon suite is available with funky, modern decor, but if you want something a bit more subdued you can book the package with a regular suite or in a two-bedroom cottage. The hotel is surrounded by manicured lawns and offers a view of the surrounding mountains. All rooms feature king-size beds and hard wood floors.

The three-night honeymoon package includes a welcome drink (non-alcoholic) and fruit basket, bed tea, breakfast and one "major meal" (i.e. lunch or dinner), one set of complimentary cocktails, a half-day of sightseeing in the local area, free disco entry and health club access. An Ayurvedic spa is located on site, although treatment is not included in the honeymoon package.

Snow Valley Resort

Located in the posh Log Hut area of Manali, Snow Valley Resort is surrounded by pine forests. Its 50 rooms all include mini fridges, so honeymooners can chill their own beverages and snacks. Honeymooning couples can choose from two special packages to stay in either the Presidential Suite or the Maharaja Suite.

Honeymoon packages in Manali are for three or four nights and include romantic extras such as flower-bed decoration, a candlelight dinner, a half-day of sightseeing by private car and a welcome basket including cake, chocolate and apple wine. Couples also receive complimentary access to the resort's gym, disco, table tennis courts, pool hall and game room. Laundry service is included, as is breakfast, dinner and daily tea.

Quality Inn River Country Resort

Although Quality Inn River Country Resort does not have special honeymoon packages in Manali, its location, rooms and amenities make this hotel another good choice for a romantic getaway. Surrounded by pine and cedar forests, the hotel is decorated in earth tones and deep reds. All suites feature working fire places, balconies and private Jacuzzi tubs.

On-site amenities include a variety of activities for honeymooning couples such as billiards, a spa, gym, and a DVD library. The hotel's Adventure Desk can arrange outdoor adventure activities such as heli-skiing, camping and trekking. Meals are not included in daily rates, but the hotel has a bar, restaurant and 24-hour coffee shop on site.
