Travel to Shakertown Just South of Lexington, Kentucky
Largest Fully Restored Shaker Historic Village
Anyone traveling to this community simply must stay at The Inn in Shakertown because it not only offers very serene accommodations but also gives you a first hand glimpse of what life was and continues to be within the community. The Inn has more than 70 or so guest rooms, with some being private cottage areas that are spread throughout 13 or so completely restored settlement buildings. Shaker furnishings abound throughout The Inn and the entire village for that matter.
The Inn at Shakertown is approximately 30 miles from Lexington and near many other of Kentucky's famous attractions including many of its historic horse farms and breweries. The Inn rates are based on either single or double occupancy and kids under 17 years of age stay free when sharing a room with an adult.
The dining facilities have an ambiance all its own, in which dining by candlelight takes center-stage. The dining facilities are exceptional and quite tasty with many Shaker specialties. During the winter months, people will dine for lunch and dinner in the "Winter Kitchen", which is a special dining area that offers visitors as warm and cozy atmosphere, complete with a roaring, crackling fireplace.
During the day exploring the Shaker Village many people get captivated by the many historic sights and recreational activities in which to participate in. There are two craft stores and over 40 miles of trails in which to strike out on. For the equestrian enthusiasts, people can bring along their horses and ride miles of riding and carriage trails. The village also has overnight horse boarding facilities available. There is even an annual equestrian pass for those riders that live in the immediate area and visit the village often. For fishermen anyone staying at The Inn and village is welcome to bring a fishing pole and fish the village's stocked pond. However a Kentucky fishing license is required for anyone over the age of 16. Annually the village holds a Kid's Fishing Day on the first Saturday of June.
