Over 50 ethnic cultures will be represented at this year's Indianapolis International Festival, reflecting Indiana's varied multi-cultural diversity. You will find international cuisine from over 20 local ethnic food vendors, showcasing many of Indy's top ethnic food restaurants. Kahn's Fine Wines and Spirits will have a Beer and Wine Garden onsite where you can travel the "globe" to sample fine international beverages.
The cultural exhibit booths will allow you to view clothing, artifacts and art from around the world, with many local artisans demonstrating their own unique craft. Art and craft items will be for sale in the International Festival Marketplace; and it's a great place to find the perfect Christmas gift for that hard to shop for family member.
The International Festival of Indianapolis makes a great educational stop for families learning about the georgraphy of the world. National Geographic will have a 26 by 35 foot interactive map of Africa that will allow your student or child to explore the Dark Continent in a some fun ways.
Entertainment at the Indianapolis International Festial includes ethnic dance, music with a wide variety of ethnic instruments and special events throughout the festival. The Arthur Murray Dance Studio will hold free international dance "workshops". Dora the Explorer will be on hand to meet with kids on Saturday and Sunday and on Saturday the South African Umdabu Dance and Percussion Company will be performing at 2pm.
School day times open for area students are on Thursday and Friday, November 19, 20 from 10 - 2. Students will journey around the Indianapolis International festival using Student Passports and school group rates offer a good price for the festival.
Regular advance ticket sale prices for the Indianapolis International Festival are $7 for adults and $6 for children 6-12. Advance tickets can be purchased at Marsh Supermarkets, Kahn's Fine Wines or you can use your AAA Hoosier Motor Club Membership card to receive $2 of the adult ticket price at the door. Rate at the door will be $9, so head over to Marsh to pick up your advance tickets for the fun family event.
