Traveler Alert: Good Nite Inn at Buena Park CA

A Bad Travelers Experience at This Inn

Regina Sunderland
When booking a Motel Room ahead of time, unless you have stayed there before, you don't know what you get. If you are a like me and rely on a few savings you may go with Travelocity, Orbitz or the like. In my case we went through Travelocity and booked 2 Weeks in advance a Motel Room at the Good Nite Inn at Buena Park CA for our planned vacation in California.

What we booked was a 3 Nights Stay in a smoking Room with two double Beds. The Room at the Inn was paid in full at the time of the booking, with everything being verified well in advance. I even went so far as to call them personally and verify the Room for the specific days and accommodations. Everything appeared to be in Order over the phone and internet.

We decided to leave one Day earlier then planned and arrived one day ahead of schedule. Booking into a different Room at the same Place, with different ladies staffing the front desk then what we were to encounter the following days. Since we arrive a day earlier, we had to make due with a non-smoking room, which was not a problem for one night. Paying $89.00 for one night, which makes this a moderate Class Motel. I made sure to once again verify the room for the following day and already ran into a slight but at this point easy to fix discrepancy. As mentioned, I had booked a smoking room, since my Husband is enjoys his Cigarettes. They however had us down for non-smoking, which was not mentioned to me during my phone conversation with them several days hence. The young lady was helpful and changed the reservation for us. Check out time is at 11 am and check in at 3 pm.
We were told that we would have to check out the next day and then check in to our regular room at 3 pm. We saw no problems with that and were eager to get some rest.

That night everything was in order, the room was clean and comfortable and everything worked fine.

The problems started the following morning during check out. The person I check out with and asked again about the check in time just to confirm what time we would be able to take possession of our reserved room, started to argue with me about the room. He kept pushing for us to just stay in that room, which I explained to him would only be ok if my husband could smoke in the room. At which I was responded to in a very unprofessional manner that he could step outside if he had to smoke and I countered that since he wished to relax on his vacation this was the reason we had booked a smoking room to begin with. No problem. The Desk Clerk seemed to find it an imposition and had quiet an attitude to begin with. However, service jobs are that way and who knows what the problem was.

We went to Knotts Berry Farm and returned at 3 pm for check in. Please again keep in mind that they already knew we where there and coming back and the room was reserved well in advance. At 3 pm we are informed that the Room was not ready yet and that it would be another 30 or so minutes before we could check in. Again the same person from that morning now coupled with another lady who claimed to be an assistant manager later on. At 3:20 pm, the room is still supposedly not ready and I have to push for him to at least start the check in paperwork. By 3:30 pm we are finally given our key and go up. As we enter I find that the Wash Clothes are missing, there is no Ash tray in the room and the TV set is not working with the remote control. Maybe all those things are minor inconveniences, but we have paid for the room to be in a perfectly working condition.

Needless to say, I am a bit hot under my collar and ask to speak to the manager. The lady from the front desk informs me that she is the acting manager and that if we had complaints should take it up with Travelocity. I still want to know, what Travelocity has to do with their sloppy operation and rudeness.
We received the missing Washcloth about 30 minutes later, but neither did the ashtray ever show up or the TV was ever fixed. Their Attitude never got any better either.

When reading their Advertisement, it claims that there are laundry facilities on the premises. On our last day of our stay, I needed to wash a load of clothe. My daughter asked where the laundry facilities were located to which she got the response that they were none available and to go a few blocks down the street.

Complimentary Coffee is available, but you better bring your own cups, since none are there and don't bother asking. Their continental Breakfast, we won't even go into.

The moral of the Story is: If you are planning to stay at this Motel, you may want to reconsider, especially if you have booked through Travelocity or any other such booking service. If they find it an imposition to deal with discount Agents, they should not have signed up with them. As for us, we will never stay in this particular Place again.
