As a traveling nurse you can see the world, meet new people and enjoy great tourist attractions. This traveling nurse job works two-fold in that you have a career that will pave the way for great travel opportunities as well as the income to do it. The traveling nurse industry lets you do both; travel to exotic locales and get paid to do so.

The nursing field is always in high demand. This is great news for those that have chosen the field of nursing. Since there is always a shortage of people in high-demand industries this gives many traveling nurses the opportunity to go where there is a need.

There are many benefits to being a traveling nurse. Traveling nurses can virtually pick and choose their own benefits, salaries and other medical allowances.

Most major medical companies take care of all the traveling nurses' expenses, such as the travel expenses, lodging and meals. The salaries are usually based on the nursing experience one has. Another added benefit of being a traveling nurse is that as a travel nurse you will usually be paid about 20% more than nurses that are full-time staff at the same hospitals you've traveled to.

Since medical services are so shorthanded the services of a traveling nurse are in high demand where the nursing field is lacking. But one of the tried and true facts is filling the right job with the right nurse where they are drastically required. So the process is extremely hard on the hospitals that need traveling nurse services to find the right nurse for the particular need.

The drawback is that doctors have many complaints about those in the traveling nurse capacity. They are adequately skilled and trained in the nursing field yet aren't familiar with the surroundings of each hospital or the cultures of the people where they have traveled to.

Long time nurses with years of experience all the way down to the second year rookies are attracted to the traveling nurse profession. Who wouldn't love a job where you are paid to travel to new places and get paid for it as well as having it all paid for by someone else? Also, the higher rates traveling nurses are paid and the better benefits they receive attract many to this profession.

Many traveling nurses do complain it is the worst field in the nursing profession. They get to travel to new and different locations, but don't really get to experience the sights as work is supposed to be their true priority. Traveling nurses don't get to lounge on beaches or spend their days shopping or sightseeing.

Another negative aspect of being a traveling nurse is that it is a dedicated profession. You are badly needed by the hospitals and patients at the places you have traveled to. This means that your real sightseeing experiences as a traveling nurse is usually limited to going from one job to the next.

A traveling nurse's main purpose in this profession is to assist other medical professionals and patients who need them badly. Sometimes a travel nurse is needed to travel with an extremely ill patient to find adequate treatment facilities or to give needed care to the patient.

All in all, negative points aside, traveling nurses enjoy higher salaries, better benefits and extensive travel. These are all great benefits that those working in usual nursing setting don't enjoy. Other benefits include luxurious boarding accommodations. Traveling nurses get free health insurance and are sometimes offered assignments in some of the finest hospitals in the nation. You'll also learn and know all about the latest trends and techniques in the nursing field.

Of course there are some requirements for being a traveling nurse. One is that you must have at least one year of experience in the field you will practice on your travels. Another requirement that is crucial is you have to be very flexible and adaptable to many different types of situations. You will find this extremely important due to the drastic changes and policies you'll experience from job to job, location to location.

People that have chosen the traveling nurse profession have discovered that the positive aspects outweigh the negative, at least for them. Their experience as a traveling nurse provides them with a wonderful and incredible experience.
