Traveling in Tanzania: Parks to See

Tanzania has one of the most beautiful and largest national parks in Africa. Lions, giraffes, wildebeest and antelopes are some of the animals that live in these national parks.

Several parks to visit:

1. The classics

Serengeti and Ngorongoro:

The Serengeti is a huge animal park which "borders" beyond the North of Kenya to take the name of Maasai Mara. In this park, species diversity is rather exceptional. You can also follow the wildebeest migration in an extraordinary movement of thousands of animals in search of food and water points. This migration takes place 2 times a year with a dramatic birth of over 25,000 wildebeests primarily from late February when the females give birth to their young.

Lovers of nature and open spaces will be delighted. Often, this destination is also reserved for "newlyweds" who enjoy coming few days and eventually find their stay over by the savannah. Ngorongoro is certainly one of the most stunning parks. Maasai tribes from surrounding villages can even be seen. To protect the sites, some culture and residential areas are prohibited.

Manyara and Tarangire:

Lake Manyara is in the middle of the vast Rift Valley and is located south of the Ngorongoro Park. It is a beautiful lake, surrounded by a vast forest where thousands of flamingos come to rest and feed. Bird watching is particularly unique and one can find a considerable diverse amount of of species.

Further south, the Tarangire National Park can be found. It is concentrated on a 100 km long immense flora and fauna. Elephants have also chosen to live in this beautiful green park.

2. The smaller but no less interesting!

Arusha National Park:

Located at the foot of Mount Meru and around Kilimanjaro, in this country, you can admire one of the most beautiful views of this huge volcanic mountain covered with snow. You can also take the opportunity to get used to the conditions before you climb Kilimanjaro.

Lake Natron:

North on the border with Kenya, Lake Natron is an extraordinary jewel. This shallow alkaline lake opens on a vast open space where millions of flamingos come to nest.

3. The least known

Pare Mountains:

In the eastern part of Kilimanjaro a beautiful mountain range offers opportunities for hiking and trekking to all those who want to seek and discover new adventures. Bird watching is another popular activity.

Selous and Mikumi National Parks:

In southern Tanzania, parks are unique because of the animal and game reserves. They are however, less popular because the roads are sometimes non-existent and traveling often is a hassle. The visiting constraints are stricter, but you can see any African wildlife especially herds of hippos.

4. The unusual to discover!

Lake Eyasi:

Next to the southern part of Park, Ngorongoro, Eyasi is a huge salt lake whose northern part is bordered by the slopes of the Oldeani Mountain. Discover the southern Ngorongoro and the Serengeti while in the presence of the Masai tribes.
