"that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God, without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world". Philippians 2:15
"You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness." 1 Thessalonians 5:5 (New King James)
Our life in God is often punctuated by moments of weakness, allowing the power and grace of God to be seen, effectively working in our lives and circumstance, causing us to triumph, where in our own strength we would otherwise fail. However, weakness should never be confused with casual or habitual sin. Paul said, "I will glory in my weakness."
Could anyone suggest that Paul would ever have said, "I will glory in my sin"? Certainly not! We see then, that the two are not synonymous. Paul, in Ephesians 5:8 says, "Once you were darkness but now you are light in the Lord, walk as children of light." Further, Jesus said, "No one when he receives a light hides it under a bushel, but they put it on a lamp-stand where all may see.
Let your light shine before men so they will see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."Inasmuch as we are willing to participate in darkness and sin in any of its various forms and fascinations, we shroud the light that God intended us to be, and as a member of the body of Christ individually, we diminish the glory of the church collectively.
Jesus said, "If your eye is single, your whole body will be full of light." The concept is simple; the greater degree of attention that we give to the things of God's kingdom and the less attention to sin and those things that are associated with darkness, the more evident God's presence will be with us and His light will be "seen" upon us.It is clear from the scripture that Jesus is coming again for a glorious church (the Bride) without spot or blemish, but the church is only as glorious as the individuals that make up the church are holy.
Where the church is concerned, are you part of the problem, or part of the solution? Are you committed to walk in the light as He is in the light, and to be holy as He is holy?
