Treasure Mapping Done Easy

Erika Gilliam-Long
Each April there is something that I look forward to and that is creating a new Treasure Map. Many people are not familiar with the concept of a Treasure Map. I decided to explain a Treasure Map in the most simple way possible and to help bring other people to understand the joy that it can create when you create a Treasure Map with your positive energy. The good thing is that very little supplies are needed for this Treasure Map.

The basic supplies for creating a treasure map are magazines, poster board, coloring items (Markers, crayons, paint swabs, paint, yarn, or anything!), tape (or glue), scissors, and lots of positive energy! When I get ready for mine I use lots of different things to be creative and also to use a good bit of magazines. When I get ready, I typically turn on some fun music and sit down to start cutting out the pictures from the magazine. I usually spend the entire first day of the Treasure Map period cutting out pictures. There is no pattern to what you are cutting out. You cut out what calls out to you and what you feel like you want/need on there. Each year there has been a number on mine and I can never figure out why the number is there, but I always cut it out and put it in the section that is calling for me.

Many people divide the treasure map out in baugus, which is based on Feng Shui. To follow this pattern you basically break the poster board off into nine different sections. The sections are Wealth and Prosperity, Fame and Reputation, Love Marriage and Relationship, Health and Family, Earth, Creativity and Children, Knowledge and Self Cultivation, Career, and Helpful People and Travel. Then you label it with colors. you number the sections across the board. Wealth and Prosperity is number 1 and is purple. Fame and Reputation is 2 and it is red. Love, Marriage, and Relationships is 3 and that is pink. Health and Family is 4 and is green. Earth is the middle section and should be the most grounded. This section is yellow. Your next section is white and that is for creativity and children. A teal section is next and that section is for knowledge and self cultivation. Career is your middle bottom and is a bright blue. Your final section is Helpful People and Travel and is gray.

The next step is putting everything together. There is not really much of a pattern to it. You just place things where you feel called to put them at. Included is a picture of mine from last year. I am sure that you will enjoy making these and make sure that you use lots of positive energy while creating.

After you are done with your map, hang up somewhere that you can see it and view the stuff at all times. Never question how these things are going to come to you or what they will mean. Just be positive and things will happen.
