Treat Canker Sores with Vitamins and Over-the-Counter Products

Canker Sores are little blisters on the soft tissue or membranes of the mouth. When they break open they are with or yellow ad surrounded by a bright read area. A Canker Sore can be very painful but treatment is usually not necessary and in most cases they go away by themselves within a week.

The National Institute of Dental Health has isolated a bacterium, which causes canker sores. It is believed that anyone that has repeated outbreaks may be allergic to some substance in the bacterium's make up.

Canker sores are common, can occur at any age, but usually first appear when you are between the ages of 10 and 20 years old. Canker sores are not contagious unlike Cold Sores, which are caused by a form of herpes virus, making them very contagious. Cold sores are almost always found on the lips and do not often spread to the soft tissues of the mouth.

Canker sores may be triggered by stress, dietary deficiencies (folic acid and Vitamin B-12), food allergies, and menstrual periods. Canker sore suffers should avoid sugar, citrus fruits and spicy foods. Unfortunately, doctors don't know of anything that prevents canker sores from forming.

Anyone can get canker sores, but women people in their teens and 20s get them more often. Canker sores may run in families. You should see your physician if your canker sores are large or last more than 2 weeks, have a fever or you feel sick, can not ear or drink.

Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with Canker Sores such as Baking Soda, Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Iron, L-cysteine, Zinc, M.S.N and Folic Acid.

Baking Soda used as a mouthwash it will help relieve canker sore pain.

Vitamin A is a protector vitamin and is necessary for maintaining healthy skin, bones, and teeth. It is also important for the proper development and health of the eyes.

L-cysteine is another immune system stimulant but should always be taken in conjunction with Vitamin C to reduce the risk of developing stone formation in the kidneys and bladder.
