Treat children's allergies naturally at home. If your child has itchy eyes and nose, watery eyes, sore throat, sneezing, sniffling and other allergy symptoms, you may be able to relieve or eliminate the symptoms by making changes in your household. The most common allergens are dust, dust mites, animal dander, mold and sometimes plants or food.

Seal Beds and Bedding in Cotton Cases

Seal all of your mattresses, box springs and pillows in high thread count cotton covers. This will keep your dust mites out of your bedroom.

Use Polyester Pillows

Do not use feather, down or polyurethane pillows. Use only polyester fiber pillows in your home. Feather and down pillows are a natural product from the wild, they tend to irritate children and adults with allergies or asthma. Polyurethane pillows have dangerous chemicals in them.

Wash All Bedding in Hot Water

Every time you wash the linens on your children's bed, always use hot water in the washer and put them in a dryer on hot. Only hot water can kill dust mites. Do not hang sheets outside to dry, always use a dryer for your children's bedding.

Put Pets Outside

Indoor pets may be the cause of your child's allergies. Even if you are an excellent housekeeper it is impossible to keep pet hair away from your child. Keep pets outside 100% of the time if your child has allergies.

Eliminate Yard Work Chores

Children with allergies should not be raking leaves or sweeping dust. Find other character building chores for your child that will not irritate their allergies.

Remove Dust, Mold and Pet Hair Regularly

Vacuum and clean your home with hepa filter technology that locks dust into the vacuum bag and then throw the bag away. Do not use bag less vacuum cleaners if you have children with allergies. Dust and clean regularly. If you had a pet in your home, have the couches and carpeting steam cleaned.

Remove Carpeting

Wall to wall carpeting can hold germs and allergens for years. Remove your wall to wall carpeting and replace with tile, hardwood flooring or laminate flooring.

You will greatly reduce your child's symptoms by making a few changes around your home. Treat your children's allergies naturally beginning today.
