It's hot. It's not just hot, it's scorching outside! I bet you'd love to be enjoying sea breezes whisking across your face or maybe jumping off into the ocean water to cool off or dropping fishing lines into the deeps - from a nice big boat! Am I right?

Sea Hunt is a South Carolina company that has been building center console boats since 1995. Their boats immediately gained popularity and caused the company to burst in its seams. Sea Hunt was thus forced into a 170,000 square foot facility by 2006. One of it's more popular boats is the 2007 Triton 260, a 26' fishing vessel that has proven time and time again to be one of the best offshore series boats in the US for people on a budget!

What draws people to the fiberglass Sea Hunt Triton 260? I can tell you first hand, price is one of the largest reasons! Another reason is its huge list of accessories and features. At roughly $75,000 for a brand new 260, Sea Hunt packs 3 fish boxes in the bow, a 40 gallon LED lit livewell, tackle drawers, leaning post, and lots of room beneath the console. Those are just a few of the many items on each Triton 260! This model Sea Hunt comes out to an overall length of 26' and 4100lbs dry (without the engine weights). It would still be easy to tow this boat with a full-size truck or SUV, or you can always store it in a slip. Its beam is a whopping 9' 3", holds 150 gallons of fuel, and has a 12 gallon freshwater wash down tank. With this big vessel, your dead rise is going to be 21" at the transom. You also get a roomy helm for all your electronics, fold-away seating in the back area, a non-skid deck, drink holders with drains, and swim platform with a ladder. In addition, you also get your choice of a few hull colors.

Some optional equipment is usually tacked onto the Sea Hunt Triton 260 to make it more appealing and because those are items typically requested for the boat. For instance, each 260 comes with a t-top to keep the blistering sun off you during the summer months. You can also get a curtain to keep water splashes and wind off you while underway, dual batteries, t-top life jacket bag, radio box, outriggers, and extra rod holders. Of course, most obviously, another item included with your boat is the trailer.

Sea Hunt boats are outfitted with Yamaha outboard motors. With the 260, you can choose between a single engine or two engines. I'd recommend going with two 150 four-strokes, but you can make your own decision about power.

If a brand new Triton 260 is not in your price range or not broken in enough for you, look into buying a used one. "All that should really matter when considering the purchase of a boat is being out on the water and enjoying the purchase for years to come." Jessica Mousseau hits the nail on the head with that statement. In her articleBuying a Used Boat, she explains important aspects that need to be considered when purchasing a used vessel.

Owning a boat, especially one of this size and nature, can be expensive. "Most boat owners use less than 50 gallons of gas per boating season." That is just one statement from the Associated Content article explaining the Hidden Costs of Owning a Boat.Other things to think about before buying a boat are, as this article includes, maintenance, financing, upkeep, and storage.

"The fun of owning a fishing boat is priceless," says Jason Elliot, author of Essential Guide to Buying a Fishing Boat. I cannot agree more! We have had our Triton Sea Hunt for a few years now and absolutely love it! It may not be the perfect ride in rough 5' choppy seas, but it gives us much joy and happiness.
