Treating Cat Allergies

Matthew Schieltz
If you sincerely love your cat and will do anything for it, a regular checkup should be on your list to give your cat. Sometimes, however, checkups are necessary because of allergic reactions that your cat may have. If you have tried to pinpoint the problem and are still confused, take your cat to the vet in order to find out why there seems to be a problem. But in the meantime, here are some suggestions that you may not have heard of. You need to start somewhere, so why not the basics?

Cat allergies are basically like humans' allergies; we just don't often think of them because cats, of course, aren't human and allergies are not the first thing that pops into our mind. But yes, cats do get allergies just as much as humans do. Allergic reactions can come from their beds, food, or even the cat litter that is being used. All of this should be checked thoroughly to make sure that there is nothing wrong with them. If they have been checked and you conclude that there is nothing visibly or obviously wrong, try changing them. For example, first try buying different cat food to see if the allergy or symptom relieves itself. If it's still there, however, try taking away their bed to see if they are allergic to the fabric of it.

Cats can even be allergic to fleas so buying a flea remedy is important also. Allergic reactions to fleas can often become evident in the way the cat acts. If they are scratching and are continually developing patches or scabs on their skin, try getting rid of the fleas. Flea bombs and even flea collars may work, but there are some fool proof products out there that will kill the fleas and the flea eggs from your home! Two products that are greatly recommended for cats with fleas are Capstar and Revolution. Capstar actually comes in the form of a tablet for your cat, while Revolution is a formula that you apply to their fur and skin. Using these two products in combination with each other will help your cat to get relief from the constant bother of fleas. While Capstar will get rid of the fleas that have already hatched on your cat, Revolution will continue to get rid of the fleas on your cat, as well as kill the eggs and new fleas that jump onto him or her. These products work wonders and should be considered a miracle treatment for your cat's fleas. In addition, getting Capstar and Revolution from your local veterinarian is not at all costly!

So the next time you are confused about why your cat is acting the way he or she is, consider that allergies may be the issue that is causing it. Getting a handle on the situation, even if it happens to be flea allergies, will give your cat a healthy body and provide them with much relief to the situation at hand!
