When diaper rash strikes, it is the most uncomfortable thing that can happen. It hurts when you sit down, and if you urinate, the stinging that occurs is God awful. All you want is to treat it and get rid of it, so you will no longer feel such discomfort. If you use adult cloth diapers to manage your incontinence, then there are a couple of small challenges that have been thrown into the mix for you to deal with, as diaper rash is to be handled a bit differently when using the cloth versus the disposables. There is no need to worry, however, because once you know how to handle these challenges, treating diaper rash when using adult cloth diapers will become second nature to you, and you can be on your way to being free of the pain.

Treating Diaper Rash When Using Adult Cloth Diapers: Using Creams and ointments

If you are treating diaper rash when using adult cloth diapers by using creams and ointments, it is important to first line the diaper with a diaper liner. The reason you want to to do this while using creams and ointments is because they can actually cause the fabric in the diapers to become messed up after a time, shortening the length of time that your adult cloth diapers will last. If you use a liner, however, this problem is nonexistent, and it will not make a difference what creams and ointments you use and how many times you use them. You can use them as often as you need to in order to make the rash heal.

Treating Diaper Rash When Using Adult Cloth Diapers: Taking Baking Soda Baths

If you do not want to deal with creams and ointments, baking soda baths is the next best thing. Fill up a sitz bath with warm water and baking soda and sit in it for approximately thirty minutes. You can do this as many times a day as you need until the rash heals.

Diaper rash is not fun when it strikes, and it is something that everyone wants to avoid. But when diaper rash does rear its ugly head, it can be done away with quickly by employing the aforementioned tips.
